My Services

Non-Fiction, How-to & Inspirational Books

Before the actual writing begins, we need to vet your idea and strategize how you will be using the finished book. Is it to position you as a subject matter expert? Get speaking engagements? Sell as part of a larger package? There are no wrong answers, but there needs to be a clear answer.

“I always wanted to write a book” is not a clear answer.

How much do you charge to write my book?

Our collaboration begins with establishing your goals for the book, including content, timeframe, and pre-writing interviews and research. Expect to pay $1-1.50 for my work.* Non-fiction, how-to, and inspirational books usually range between 35,000 to 75,000 words in length.

Using a book as a marketing or self-promotion tool is a great attention getter, and usually better received in the 30-40,000-word range. Traditionally published books tend to run to the higher word count.

*This does not include book formatting, cover design or other graphic design services.

How much is it to get started?

The initial conversation is free so we can determine if we are a good fit for each other.

Your downpayment of $2500 holds your place in my writing calendar and allows me to begin reviewing any notes or content you already have. You will receive a quote for the remainder of the writing project, which will be billed monthly.

How long does it take?

Expect at least 6-9 months for projects where you have provided substantial pre-writing information and interviews. Projects can wrap up sooner but, in many cases, take longer due to factors beyond my control, such as your availability, response to inquiries, etc.

Believe it or not, I’ve had some experts who simply slink away as the book becomes more real. It’s much more fun to tell people you are writing a book than to actually put it out there and fear the reaction.

Will you market my book?

My expertise is crafting well-written content that fulfills your vision. I have no control over your audience, your promotional efforts, or your monetary success. Making money from book sales requires extensive marketing well before the book is released. Most experts use their book as the credibility piece that establishes their authority and increases their visibility, which boosts their business.

What if I want to do it myself?

I offer writing coaching and developmental editing services that range from $10,000 to $20,000.

If your budget needs differ, I can recommend the Association of Ghostwriters website, where you can find other writers who may fit your needs.
